I was honored to be elected to the Lafayette City Council in November 2024 for the open two-year term seat. In July, I submitted my candidacy papers for a four-year term for the November 2026 election. With no challengers filing, the Lafayette City Council voted to appoint me and fellow incumbent, Stella Wotherspoon, to new four-year terms. I look forward to continuing the work for Lafayette!
As a member of the City Council, I serve on various committees, including the City’s Legislation Committee, tracking California legislation and advocating for Lafayette at the State Capitol. I provide a strong voice for public safety as the Council’s liaison to the Lafayette Emergency Preparedness Commission and the City’s Crime Prevention Commission. I also serve as the City Council’s contact to the East Bay Municipal Utility District and the East Bay Regional Park District.
Over many years in Lafayette, my family and I have grown to love this community of dedicated volunteers, superb schools and a vibrant Downtown framed by a beautiful natural setting. I sought out a position on the City Council as a part of a lifelong commitment to public service. I have worked to make a positive difference for Lafayette and remain committed to furthering the work to make us a stronger and safer community.
A Bit About Me
After a 34-year career in Public Finance, working with scores of California cities and public agencies on their financing programs, I served as a community volunteer and a Board member for City, County and State organizations. My Priorities
Acknowledging Lafayette’s strong management and finances, the City must address critical issues over the next several years. Find an overview of my approach to these issues here.
My Approach
Over my career, I worked with communities across California. Most were well run with dedicated management and thoughtful elected boards. A few were not. I think the notion of “service over self” makes for the distinction.
As citizens elected to public leadership, city council members must listen to the community and different points of view before using their own best judgement on a given issue. As a member of the City Council, I work to engage with a wide range of perspectives, give every voice a respectful hearing, and work with the other members of the Council collaboratively to meet the terms of State law. In my second term on the City Council, I will continue this approach: listening to the community, coming prepared to meetings, asking good questions, and working with City staff and other Council members to achieve the best long-term outcomes for Lafayette.
